Premier returns to Hayhills for Carbon Capture tree planting initiative with the Woodland Trust
On 26th March, Premier welcomed its Carbon Capture customers for a second collaborative tree planting event at Hayhills, delivered by the Woodland Trust, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and long term carbon reduction. Located on the edge of Silsden, the Hayhills site spans 38 hectares (94 acres) of former farmland. The project presents a significant opportunity to connect existing woodland near the reservoir and establish a green corridor along a section of the Public Right of Way, enhancing both biodiversity and public access to nature. Following the success of last year’s planting, this return visit combined essential maintenance work with new tree planting activity. Participants worked together to support the early development of the woodland, ensuring previously planted trees continue to establish successfully, while introducing additional native species including holly, rowan and oak. Over the next 50 years, the Hayhills site will evolve into native broadleaf woodland, creating valuable habitats for wildlife and contributing to long term carbon sequestration. The woodland will also help protect nearby ancient semi natural and secondary woodlands, strengthening the wider ecosystem. Designed with both environmental and community impact in mind, the site will feature a diverse woodland structure with open glades and grassy pathways. It will also provide opportunities for local engagement, including volunteering and outdoor education, encouraging stronger connections between people and nature. Hussein Ismail, Marketing Director at Premier, said:"Returning to Hayhills with our Carbon Capture customers is incredibly rewarding. It is one thing to talk about sustainability, but to come back, see the progress from last year, and actively contribute to its continued growth makes a real difference. This initiative is about giving our customers a tangible way to support carbon reduction, while working together to create something that will have a lasting environmental and community impact for generations to come." By returning to Hayhills with its Carbon Capture customers, Premier continues to demonstrate how collaboration within the print industry can drive meaningful environmental action. The initiative forms part of Premier’s wider commitment to supporting sustainable practices and helping customers reduce their environmental footprint through accessible, impactful solutions.
